Hospitals:
the nearest hospital is in Metković, which is only 17 km and can provide all kinds of interventions, and if necessary transported to clinical center Split or Dubrovnik
Competition:
in Dubrovnik Neretva county has no facilities intended for health tourism, therefore no competition. A similar but not the same activity is performed at Biokovka hotel in Makarska, whose capacities are fully booked throughout the year.
If we take Biokovka as a parameter then we can write:
Cost per person of 40 E in the winter period to 60 E in the summer period +therapeutic treatments. Regarding the above is difficult to determine the total cost per customer because the cost of therapeutic treatment is not known upfront, and the conception of property and services is significantly different.
When we talk about who we refer to:
tourism zone „Uplov“ is defined as the zone with 600 beds 30% is the hotel facilities and 70% were urban villa of 240 m2. Therefore, service delivery and the price should be determined by the structure of clients and of course the type of medical services.
Location of the place
Distances to Međugorje (pilgrimages), Hutovo blato (Park), Ploče (Highway, Port)
Market:
According to data from UNWTO 2,5% of all international travel is related
to medical tourism. Estimated market growth of these services by 20-25%
annually. The structure of the current total volume of health tourism is 41%
belongs to dental services,40% belongs to orthopedics, and 19% of cosmetic surgery. Americans in the 2007 year spend 17 billion on these services.
We can see the connection of the official medicine with traditional techniques and methods of treatment. An increasing number of rich users from Russia and Arabic countries where the price is not a limiting factor. It is expected that the inclusion of the insurance companies offers medical tourism, noting that the limiting factor or risk and responsibility for the unprofessional treatment.
Blace
Older rural fishing village and small port in the far northwestern part of the coast and, in the more recent future tourist resort. It is located near the mouth of the river Neretva and Small Neretva, with protected natural areas. It should be regulated to save the population and tourism development.
The aforementioned space is planned for the tourist zone and to the specific form of tourism „health tourism“ which is just available at this location due to the natural resources of medicinal mud which provides an additional incentive dimension.
It is known to produce health tourism represents one of the fastest-growing segments of global tourism. This contributes not only to demographic changes but also to general changes in social values within which the growing importance is attached to a healthy lifestyle.
Croatia has a great potential for development and should improve and thus create a world top destination for medical tourism. The reasons are the cost of health care and medical services that are much lower than in developed countries, and service and quality are equal. Health tourism is a global business that weighs about 60 billion USD per year. It is estimated that the potential growth of this sector is around 20 % per year, primarily due to an aging population in developed countries. Medical tourism in Croatia is growing and feedback information is very positive.
